OUR community is 62 years old!
As we celebrate 62 years since our founders first arrived in Findhorn, the first part of the community buy-in has happened in perfect timing: a large part of The Park Ecovillage has moved into community ownership. History is being made!
We marked the birthday with our first community-led annual gathering, four days of dance, singing, sharing and planning for the next 62 years, ending with bubbles, cake and a traditional Scottish ceilidh.
At the same time, the Ecovillage Findhorn Community Benefit Society (EF CBS) was concluding an arrangement with the Findhorn Foundation Trust to acquire parts one and two of the community buy-in, including the Universal Hall.
As of 18 November, the community now owns the Village Green; the Guest Lodge; the BunkHouse; the Youth Project Building; the Phoenix Shop Building; the Medway area land under the mobile homes; Medway area buildings and long-let caravans; the Yurt (Moonlight) and Bungalow (Doris) near the Guest Lodge; the Universal Hall; the biomass boiler; the Skylab building (ex-Big Sky; ex Findhorn Press); the laundry; the Field of Dreams Solum (green area outside MAC); the runway and associated roads; the land under the mobiles near the entrance, the carshare area across from Ecologia etc.
Congratulations to the EF CBS team for an incredible achievement after a tough year-long journey!

On 17 November 1962, our founders Eileen and Peter Caddy, and Dorothy Maclean arrived at what was then a caravan park, soon followed by our fourth founder, Lena Lamont. That small handful of people dreamed of a new age, not knowing their vision would become a thriving community of thousands, reaching around the world.
